I am thunder, lightning and the sky I’m the brighter side of life I got her, only God knows how I’m not the flirting type I don’t care what tomorrow brings It won’t change a thing No, I don’t care what tomorrow brings Tonight will stay And shed its light On this dark and endless sky Tomorrow will surely come too soon It’s not like we’re immune To panic, loneliness and doubt We’ll lose it once in a while But I don’t care... There’s no need to tie me down Or keep your hand on mine There is no one further on Who’ll make me sing a sweeter song Oh, I don't care...

Best Regret 03:18
I thought I could be true To you I would hold on Hard and forever Like singers to their song But nothing can compare To the touch of a hand On these long days of winter With you so far away This world is not the one we pictured it to be I in my simplicity grew weak I’ll be the raindrop on your cheek You’ll be the best regret, the best regret to me They say it will come back, And I will play the part Of a man and his senses One ocean apart I had your picture framed Then I tucked it away At the back of a drawer And that’s where it stays This world is not the one we pictured it to be Words mean little, even when they’re real I’ll be the raindrop on your cheek You’ll be the best regret, the best regret to me

Left her service Or rather I was taken from it Broke my heart But damn me if I learned from it I just can’t stop Biologically I’m still intact If I meet someone new I’m up for that Drove a long way Just to glimpse those eyes I’ve picked out For my own If I had half a brain I’d leave town But I don’t I know what’s likely to come of this run But feeling always beats just being numb Left her service Or rather I was taken from it Broke my heart But damn me if I learned from it I just can’t stop Biologically I’m still intact If I meet someone new I’m up for that So here’s to all the dumb things men must do And to those special eyes, I think they’re blue
4.
This Longing 03:14
Blurred-out moon, circled moon A barrio that shouldn’t be Families only halfway home And this longing, this longing Rhythms stuttered from nearby Uneasy, assured and true Foreign, pathetic, mine And this longing, this longing Distance that makes me believe Or perhaps it makes it more plain to see If those eyes can trip me over There’s something I haven’t told her When she paints strings of words I stutter mine But if tomorrow was a week Even this longing would speak If tomorrow was a week Even my longing would speak
5.
No Guarantee 03:40
Will I be there for you Can you count on me At times when there’s nothing but darkness to see What do I know, What will be will be Hearts come with no guarantee Will I carry your weight Will I be by your side When you feel that you’re lost and you can’t see the light Oh, what do I know What will be will be Heart comes with no guarantee I wish I could say that I’d stand by you I wish I could promise I’d be true Since you’re asking Will I be there for you? I hope I’ll be But hearts come with no guarantee Though all we can do is believe, Right now we’re here, you and me
6.
They all came from such solemn lines And there they were, down on the ground The old man gone, no work left in the mines What had they done? What was it for? Oh, it takes a lot to kill a soul Well, at least that’s what we’re told But we can’t always live by faith alone There’s gotta be something more Nowhere did the sun shine brighter than right here Nowhere did the sky seem so close But that won’t keep you warm at night Or get you through the day And no pride can fill an empty mouth So two brothers cut tradition short A chain 300 years old It’s left us scattered and each to his own There’s gotta be something more (Chorus) Going back now we don’t see all the fuss The churchyard filling and no space for us
7.
Why don’t we make up our minds And start finding better times This creek of love we had Has trickled down, it’s oh so sad We thought we’d get caught in the flood Ms. Gold and Mr. Mud But our bond would bridge that stream Construction workers, you and me This is where the river used to run You see it by the marks in the ground Not a drop of water in sight But the bridge stands proud The flood’s been dried But the bridge stands proud So why don’t we make up our minds Let’s tear this damn bridge down We’ve been around too long Not to know this bitter song Our flood has changed its course Now I’ve got mine and you’ve got yours And there’s where we should be Construction working separately Construction workers, you and me
8.
Springtime 03:23
There they come all falling down the hill I watch them fly on by There they come all falling down the hill In the sun, in the spring, in the springtime What could they do that could hurt me know When they just fly on by What could they do that could hurt me now In the sun, in the spring, in the springtime Cause they would never want me The way I want you And you could never treat me Like they’re used to And now that I’m so certain It couldn’t be true
9.
It’s been too long a time Since you were mine Now that we could Make it right we should It’s no use dwelling over right and wrong In my mind I’ve been yours now for so long So make it real, make it real Let the sweetest wind blow out all over me The abandon in your eyes The way you arch your spine A hand along your ribs The soft, soft fingertips So don’t start wondering if it’s right or wrong Leave it be, for once just let it come And make it real, make it real Let the sweetest wind low out all over me Make it real, make it real Let your sweetest wind blow out all over me
10.
Lay me down in your weary arms Keep my body warm Hold us far from the hands that pull This fool down way below Oh, times are hard but I believe In what waits ahead At the end of another line We will break the spell We’ve been so long trying hard to find The comfort of a home It seems there’s nothing else to cure This stress that grips our bone Times are hard but I have faith In what waits ahead At the end of another line We will break the spell They always say forever Sends a chill down through my bones When this mouth says ‘forever’ It will spell the word ‘alone’ Through the smoke I can see her face Her voice creeps through the crowd If it’s her let her be alone Or let me go blind Oh, times are hard but I believe In what waits ahead At the end of another line She will find me there At the end of another line We will break the spell

about

Feels like coming home ...

Imagine a clip from a movie where fragments of events flicker by and in a few seconds form a story that takes us to the present - 17 years later!

When Johan Gille explains how Able’s third album was finally finished, it's a lot like those movie clips. A few lines from a letter exchange, some demo cassettes with choruses and arrangements that wouldn’t let go, some new acquaintances - and some friends that you’ve found your way back to. Everything was already there. And it all fell into place.

When Able this spring took to the stage after more than ten years off it, the times had caught up with the band. Already on their second album (“Lost Love Songs”, released 1999), the band had found its voice, rooted in a kind of timeless alt-country where the strong songwriting always stands wide and tall in the foreground, emphasizing how skilled a songwriter Johan Gille is, clearly up there with the big names.

And it’s the songs that carry the band also on the new album "Third". The single "Construction Workers", released earlier this autumn, also proved that 17 years equals a more mature band - it would be strange if it wouldn’t. Able has never been as tight a musical unit as now or boasted as much self-confidence, and Johan Gille sings with a greater depth than ever.

As an astonished guest asked after one of the latest concerts in the band’s hometown of Uppsala, Sweden: Why aren’t you big?

In short: This is a band that finally came home with its third album ... and it feels like they’re now inviting us home to them.
